Centenary of ANZAC – Lone Pine Project
In 2014 the Veterans & Families Garden Plot joined students from Rose Bay High School to grow Lone Pine seedlings as a Centenary of ANZAC and World War 1 project. The project now has 200 seedlings and we want to distribute them to schools, veterans groups, ADF members, community groups and individuals for this coming ANZAC Day.
Information about the Battle of Lone Pine, the pedigree of the seedlings and the Lone Pine Project can be found on the attached Information Sheet.

10th July 2014
The Lone Pine is also commonly known as the Aleppo Pine (Pinus halepensis). It is a medium tree ranging from 5 to 25 meters tall. The trunk often divides half way up into two or more stems. Many branches develop from these stems giving the tree a broad crown which can be a flat topped or domed shaped. The young branches are a silver grey that darkens with age, to a purplish brown, red-brown or grey-black.

14th August 2014
The seedlings range from 30cm to 60 cm in height and are located at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.
